Swimathon
200 Commons Dr, Holly Springs, NC 27540
Start: 8:00 AM
End: 10:00 AM
It is time to kick off our biggest fundraiser for the year, Swim-A-Thon. While our concessions and the Independence Day raffle help us fundraise, the Swim-A-Thon is the best way for our swimmers' extended friends and family networks to get involved (and it's the one fundraiser where we ask our parents/direct family members to NOT donate!). So what is Swim-A-Thon? What: Arbor Creek Dragons swimming as many laps as they can in 1 hour to raise money for the swim team. When: Saturday, July 30th @ 8 - 10AM Why: Involve our swimmers in fundraising, team-building, & fun! How: Sponsors donate per lap or a flat amount, cash or checks payable to Arbor Creek Swim Club Swim-A-Thon is a long running team fundraiser for Summer and Year-Round swim clubs. Each swimmer is asked to swim as many laps as they can in 1 hour. For our younger swimmers it is a great physical challenge that they can feel proud of accomplishing. Some of them may only swim 20 laps, but for these swimmers this still represents a large accomplishment. The look of pride on our younger swimmers when they complete a large number of laps to support their team is one of my favorite parts of the event. I feel like this sense of accomplishment and pride in helping their team is the best aspect of using Swim-A-Thon as one of our fundraisers. Our Board of Directors will also be organizing donuts, juice, and coffee for the swimmers and attendees after they complete the swim, making for a great team building day. Swim-A-Thon is also a chance for our swimmers to be involved in fundraising which is an important way for the swimmers to support their team. This one event ties in swimming accomplishment and supporting the team for our athletes. The fundraising is designed to be a chance for the swimmers to share their experiences and what they are doing with family and friends. We also find that many companies will match donations to a non-profit and you can ask your HR department. We are not really looking for immediate family to write another check. We want our swimmers to ask family friends, aunts, uncles, grandparents, and neighbors to sponsor them. Each sponsor will commit to an amount per lap (our preference) or to a single amount. After the Swim-A-Thon, the swimmers will report back to their sponsors with the number of laps they swam and then collect the donations. At this time, we'll accept cash and checks made out to Arbor Creek Swim Club and donations are due at the End of the Season Banquet (August 2nd). The Board of Directors has set our overall dollar goal at $4,000 and also a participation goal of 100%. We want each of our swimmers to participate in the swim and raise money for the team, even if it is only a small amount. If you are unable to participate on July 30, please ask Coach Naomi for a make-up time that they can do during normal practice. This is always a fun day for our team and important to our overall strength and ability to provide the best possible program for our athletes. As always, please let anyone on the board or Coach Naomi know if you have any questions or need assistance. |
